| Well, I have to say I have been a bit addicted to facebook since it started, but after Tim sent me a message about starting up xanga gain, it got me looking through my old web entries. It is so good to read them and see how things have changed and moved on .. it also made me realise that writing your thoughts down is really interesting as you get to see a person's personality! My dad is amazing at writing, when you read his thoughts and comments, you really get to see inside his mind which you wouldn't see unless you spend a great deal of time with him.
I love starting my sentences with "well", need to think of alternatives.
A lot has happened since last time I posted, we had just got back from Cairns which was very lovely. Since then, we travelled down in Barry the Barina to Melbourne, along the Great Ocean Road and back to Sydney. It was a great trip and we had lots of fun as well as some trials and tribulations! Our car got beat up by a Kangaroo (it's ok, it was still alive), then the clutch went etc etc, but it was great seeing old friends Nat and Ed!
There were a lot of flies around and if you look closely, I have a fly on my tooth!
After that, we went to New Zealand - Wellington to take the youth from our church to a camp called Hou-Ra, which means Newday in Maori. It was a great week and God really meet us all in a powerful way! We all came back full of God!!
After that, it was back to school. I am teaching still in the school in Narraweena which has not been out of the news for the past month - nude teachers, less said about that - the better! I've just got a SMART board fitteds in my class which will bring me great joy! I have a mixed bunch of kids this year, but they are all fun! Reports are due in in a couple of weeks, so as usual, I am procrastinating!

Then mum and dad came to stay which was great. It was meant to be for 5 weeks, but they ended up staying for 7 due to my dad getting ill, but he is much better now, praise the Lord! They are busy finishing off the barn they bought.
After that, we got the opportunity to go to Abu Dhabi in U.A.E. Dave had a month's contract to work out there with his office and I got to go for free in my 2 week holidays. It is such a different place than I have ever been to. We arrived after midnight, so didn't quite get a glimpse of what it was like until we were woken at 4.30am by the call to prayer from the mosque just over the road! It happens 5 times a day, so you do get used to it. Abu Dhabi is a strange place, it's going to be amazing in 10 years time with all the things they are building, but at the moment all there is really to do is shop. There are a lot of shopping malls out there and it was so weird for me as they were full of English shops such as M & S, Topshop, Oasis, Fat Face etc. It was more English than Oz. There are some really great places to eat and lots of good bars which are inside the hotels as alcohol is banned for the Muslims. We met some really nice people as well.

I became an Aussie on Monday! I went to my citizenship ceremony and passed my initiation ceremony (skulling a tooheys new and eating cheap sausages) and now I'm a Shelia! Don't feel any different although a kid in my class asked if "I felt more normal now I was an Aussie"! cheek!
I am reading the book "Chasing the Dragon" It is a great read about a woman's impact in the drug dens of the Walled City in Ho ng Kong! It's really inspiring and challenging.
Speak soon and update your Xanga's!!
| Again, it has been a while! Facebook seems to have taken over my life, but all you see is photos and you don't really get any detail about how people are doing, so here is my attempt at trying to update my life ...
Well, since we last spoke we have been on holiday to Cairns. It was wonderful up there and we enjoyed every minute of the 30 degree sunny days and the complete rest! Life has been pretty hectic with our jobs, both being demanding and super busy, but now we can't wait for the Christmas holidays.
Anyways, back to Cairns...
We saw heaps of dolphins, swam with sharks in the Great Barrier Reef, relaxed in the sun, went on a sea plane to a tiny island, read a lot of books and ate a lot of really nice meals. They have great food up there. We were ready for another holiday after a day back at work. Oh well, I guess we need the money to pay for our holidays!
The day after we got back, our car was smashed into while it was parked and was a write-off, so we had to purchase a new car! It worked out for the best as the insurance pay out was more than we could have sold the car for, so we were happy, in a way it was a blessing.
We are looking forward to Christmas, although I think it's going to be a hot one, we are planning to go to NZ for a bit with kids from our church and camping up the coast somewhere for new year, as well as trying to pop down to Melbourne to see old friends of mine!
Hope you are all well, whoever reads this! I will update sooner than 3 months away! Some more photos of where we live! As we love it so much!

| Well, we have a new addition to the family! We have finally purchased a BBQ! We had a beautiful weekend with temperature soaring to 27 degrees, but sadly today they have gone down to 16!!!

We managed to get the last one from our local DIY shop and managed to wheel it down the street (assembled) and carry it up three flights to our unit. It's a good job we didn't have to build it ourselves as the guys in the shop told us it took them an hour and a half!!

It was Australian Father's day, so we had Dave's family round for the first BBQ. I have to say, Dave was feeling a bit of pressure and responsibility as he said " this is big for me, it means more responsibility than getting the ring on my finger." The thought of him having to cook every night, must have made him feel a bit sick!
Anyway, he did a great job and the food tasted amazing! So you all need to come on over and have a BBQ now!!

| What have we been doing all this time, I hear you ask, well for all those who are waiting in the wings for the next update ... here we are ...
Since the storms, I have been casual teaching in a few different schools. I managed to get work every day which was great and then I two weeks off for the school holidays (which was a bit of bad timing). But since returning, I have done a 3 week block in one school and have now started a block in one class till Christmas, covering a maternity leave which is superb. The school is called Narraweena Public School and I have a Year 3 class. They are a great class, lively and sparky. I have a boy with Aspergers which is a bit of a challenge, but he is a nice funny kid. So work is going well, I am in my 2nd week at Narraweena and so far so good. They are a really good staff and they have lots of socials, so that is cool. It is good to get a regular income in now.
Apart from teaching, we've both had bouts of flu and illnesses, but we are back now. We went up the coast to Hawks Nest again with a few friends and went on a boat cruise which was fun (although I had the flu and couldn't move much) and we also went to the Live Earth gig in Sydney which was ok. Our friends Chris and Bec have bought themselves two cute cats, so we have been playing with them and babysitting every now and again.

The weather is starting to heat up a bit now, we rode our bike down by the lake and had breakfast at a very nice cafe overlooking the lake. We love it where we live, it is so beautiful and walking distance to some pretty amazing spots. Married life is great as well and we are now trying to plan a nice holiday somewhere in the October school holidays. So all is great really. I have been making the famous steak and Mushroom pie and adding my own special touch. We are both getting fat, but gonna do something about that before the Summer comes.
We are also looking forward to baby Scott no. 2 who should arrive at th end of March. (that's KArl and Louise's baby if any of you were getting confused).
Well, best be off. Hope that has updated you all!
| Well, after showing you how great and sunny Narrabeen is, and let me tell you, it has been 20 to 25 degrees and sunny every day for the last 3 months, so it was a bit of a shock when we got storms last week!
On Friday, we had guests coming over for dinner in the evening, but in the morning, it started to "lash it down"!! It did not stop and by 2pm, our power had totally gone, which posed a problem, as our cooker is electric. By 6pm, it was very dark and reading by torchlight had lost it's appeal, I felt it was time to cancel our dinner arrangement, as we still didn't have power and I couldn't cook. Went to pick up Dave from the bus stop and all the traffic lights were dead, it was chaos!
By 7.30, it came on again, but too late. We went to bed early as we had to take the said friends (Tom and Rhiannon) to the airport as they were escaping and going on a surfing holiday to Vanuatu ... Lucky them! We had to leave at 4am and luckily we had not relied on our clock radio to wake us up, as the power went off again during the night, which proved a problem as we had to get our car out of the garage, we'd lost the torch and the emergency hall lights had gone off. The garage has a electric gate which opens with a buzzer, but of course it wasn't working!! Dave had to do a bit of a MacGyver and use the mobile in the pitch black to find a key to try and override the gate!! He is my hero and managed to do it and we drove to their house to pick them up, having to avoid many blown down trees etc!!

Saturday, we had a new duck pond outside our unit, Dave fed the ducks with bread thrown down to them, he is trying to fatten them up as he has a liking for roast duck!

So life here isn't all sunshine, but we did have lots of rainbows on Monday! It was also the Queen's birthday, so we got a day off and the sunshine came out and we had breakfast on the beach watching the surfers!!
Other news, I am now qualified to teach in NSW schools, had to be observed teaching to check I was up to standard for just over 2 weeks and have an interview which consisted of the old familiar topic of how you do the plural of Fox's as in our name, not the animal!! Then I had to wait for my number to teach to come through and today I did my first day of casual teaching with a smelly year 6 class!! Tomorrow's lesson is on personal hygiene me thinks!!!
Married life is great and I love cooking, which is causing us both problems, but we try to run every now and again to make us feel better!!
