Well, after showing you how great and sunny Narrabeen is, and let me tell you, it has been 20 to 25 degrees and sunny every day for the last 3 months, so it was a bit of a shock when we got storms last week!

On Friday, we had guests coming over for dinner in the evening, but in the morning, it started to "lash it down"!!  It did not stop and by 2pm, our power had totally gone, which posed a problem, as our cooker is electric.  By 6pm, it was very dark and reading by torchlight had lost it's appeal, I felt it was time to cancel our dinner arrangement, as we still didn't have power and I couldn't cook. Went to pick up Dave from the bus stop and all the traffic lights were dead, it was chaos!

By 7.30, it came on again, but too late.  We went to bed early as we had to take the said friends (Tom and Rhiannon) to the airport as they were escaping and going on a surfing holiday to Vanuatu ... Lucky them!  We had to leave at 4am and luckily we had not relied on our clock radio to wake us up, as the power went off again during the night, which proved a problem as we had to get our car out of the garage, we'd lost the torch and the emergency hall lights had gone off.  The garage has a electric gate which opens with a buzzer, but of course it wasn't working!!  Dave had to do a bit of a MacGyver and use the mobile in the pitch black to find a key to try and override the gate!!  He is my hero and managed to do it and we drove to their house to pick them up, having to avoid many blown down trees etc!!

Saturday, we had a new duck pond outside our unit, Dave fed the ducks with bread thrown down to them, he is trying to fatten them up as he has a liking for roast duck!

So life here isn't all sunshine, but we did have lots of rainbows on Monday!
It was also the Queen's birthday, so we got a day off and the sunshine came out and we had breakfast on the beach watching the surfers!!

Other news, I am now qualified to teach in NSW schools, had to be observed teaching to check I was up to standard for just over 2 weeks and have an interview which consisted of the old familiar topic of how you do the plural of Fox's as in our name, not the animal!!  Then I had to wait for my number to teach to come through and today I did my first day of casual teaching with a smelly year 6 class!!  Tomorrow's lesson is on personal hygiene me thinks!!!

Married life is great and I love cooking, which is causing us both problems, but we try to run every now and again to make us feel better!!

You look as cold in this picture as you did at Staithes! Looks like you've had an exciting time over there fraught with several challenges which you've overcome. Well done. I believe that Aunt Adele and Gary had quite a traumatic time with the flooding up at Newcastle. Have they got that boat off the beach yet? It's been a bit wet over this side of the globe too, and even a tornado somewhere today. Several parts of the country are under water, including parts Yorkshire. It has been beautiful up here in the North Sea though. Just 11 more days to go then I'm through with it. Roll on!!!

We're awash here too - but at least it's not your summer. It was the longest day here yesterday!!
