Is xanga better than facebook?

Well, I have to say I have been a bit addicted to facebook since it started, but after Tim sent me a message about starting up xanga gain, it got me looking through my old web entries.  It is so good to read them and see how things have changed and moved on .. it also made me realise that writing your thoughts down is really interesting as you get to see a person's personality!  My dad is amazing at writing, when you read his thoughts and comments, you really get to see inside his mind which you wouldn't see unless you spend a great deal of time with him.

I love starting my sentences with "well", need to think of alternatives.

A lot has happened since last time I posted, we had just got back from Cairns which was very lovely.  Since then, we travelled down in Barry the Barina to Melbourne, along the Great Ocean Road and back to Sydney.  It was a great trip and we had lots of fun as well as some trials and tribulations!  Our car got beat up by a Kangaroo (it's ok, it was still alive), then the clutch went etc etc, but it was great seeing old friends Nat and Ed!

There were a lot of flies around and if you look closely, I have a fly on my tooth!

After that, we went to New Zealand - Wellington to take the youth from our church to a camp called Hou-Ra, which means Newday in Maori.  It was a great week and God really meet us all in a powerful way!  We all came back full of God!!

After that, it was back to school.  I am teaching still in the school in Narraweena which has not been out of the news for the past month - nude teachers, less said about that - the better!  I've just got a SMART board fitteds in my class which will bring me great joy!  I have a mixed bunch of kids this year, but they are all fun!  Reports are due in in a couple of weeks, so as usual, I am procrastinating!

Then mum and dad came to stay which was great.  It was meant to be for 5 weeks, but they ended up staying for 7 due to my dad getting ill, but he is much better now, praise the Lord!  They are busy finishing off the barn they bought.

After that, we got the opportunity to go to Abu Dhabi in U.A.E. Dave had a month's contract to work out there with his office and I got to go for free in my 2 week holidays.  It is such a different place than I have ever been to.  We arrived after midnight, so didn't quite get a glimpse of what it was like until we were woken at 4.30am by the call to prayer from the mosque just over the road!  It happens 5 times a day, so you do get used to it.  Abu Dhabi is a strange place, it's going to be amazing in 10 years time with all the things they are building, but at the moment all there is really to do is shop.  There are a lot of shopping malls out there and it was so weird for me as they were full of English shops such as M & S,  Topshop,  Oasis, Fat Face etc.  It was more English than Oz.  There are some really great places to eat and lots of good bars which are inside the hotels as alcohol is banned for the Muslims.  We met some really nice people as well.

I became an Aussie on Monday!  I went to my citizenship ceremony and passed my initiation ceremony (skulling a tooheys new and eating cheap sausages) and now I'm a Shelia!  Don't feel any different although a kid in my class asked if "I felt more normal now I was an Aussie"!  cheek!

I am reading the book "Chasing the Dragon"  It is a great read about a woman's impact in the drug dens of the Walled City in Ho ng Kong!  It's really inspiring and challenging.
